RE: Laredo vrs Artic Fox

AF is the better quality choice; but since you live on the East coast, I'd think twice. I would check with local repair facilities and ask them if they could fix any issues that might arise since you will not have any warranty support. The Virginia plant never had the same reputation as the West coast factory in La Grande. Personally, I would only buy a West coast manufactured AF. The appliances etc. are pretty standard in the industry. Good luck on your search. You might want to take a look for used Sunnybrook 5ers as another option.

RE: biggest bed and bath

No. Northwood (Arctic Fox) did not shut down, but did close their Virginia plant. Since the poster is looking for short, they might want to take a look at the Arctic Fox 22GQ. While there are other manufacturers out there with similar floorplans, the Arctic Fox has many extras in a quality built short trailer.

RE: What to do first

Do at least get a lawn service and a property management firm to handle and needed repairs or chase overdue rent payments while you are gone. I would store personal items (pix etc) with a friend or relative. Do plan on needing to paint and carpet when you return. If it is not necessary, you will be pleasnatly surprised. If you need it, you will not be as disappointed. We have a rental that cost us dearly relying on a referral from friends. We will only go with a property management firm and good background checks from here on out. OUr current renter will not even water the year, but pays on time and the neighbors have no complaints. We are considering renting out our current home to allow us to hit the road for a year or two to test the water. We know that there are risks, but don't see how we can afford to go if we don't do this and still keep our house as a fall-back.

RE: K-Z Spree OR Sunny Creek ?

I see you are from the East coast, but may I recommend taking a look at the Arctic Fox by Northwood? To me, they are the closest to Sunline for quality in the length you prefer. The are not light trailers, but are very well built.

RE: rotten meat smell- UPDATE - UPDATE

I know there is stuff you can put on wood subfloors if dogs have urinated through the carpet to seal the odor. I don't know why you couldn't "paint" it on the affected area and see if it helped.

RE: Is Skyline building aluminum framed trailers now?

I see on various websites that the sides and endwalls are aluminum on at least some of their model lineups for 2009. No mention of the floor or the roof.

Length restrictions

When looking at some of the campgrounds, I see length restrictions. What is not clear is how they count the length. For a motorhome, it's obvious. What about a travel trailer? For example, some of the California beach parks limit to 24' and many of the forest service parks also have short limits. Are they just counting the trailer, or are they counting the towing rig? If so, practically no trailers can use the reservation systems.

RE: Oregon Coast - Best State Parks with Full Hook-ups?

Don't forget Beverly Beach just out of Newport or South Beach, just south of Newport.

RE: rotten meat smell- UPDATE - UPDATE

After fish thawed when my folks turned of the circuit breaker before leaving on an August vacation, they used active charcoal from a pharmacy. It absorbed the odor and the fridge was fine. I have used a variation of that passed on from movers to retard mold and stuff during a move. I put some briquests in old knee-highs and tied them to the racks. I also took some used coffee grounds and did the same. Then leave baking soda and prop the doors open. Febreeze wasn't on the market at that point.

RE: Road Ranger

Road Ranger was a brand made by Kit years ago. The company broke up and the label is now being introduced again by Extreme RV. It is not the same company, but I believe some employees who were previously with Kit started it.

RE: Moderate places SW Florida?

How long we stay will depend on price. I figure a month. I was thinking Fort Myers vicinity to Sarasota. We want a pool. No pet. What is moderate to you all? I am hoping for under $600 per month. I know that it can be an expensive area. We would then move up the coast.

Moderate places SW Florida?

We would like suggestions for moderately priced places for a TT in SW Florida. I dream of a view, but am willing to walk a couple of blocks to find a beach. If that is out of the question, any other suggestions?

RE: TT Recommendation?

We have an Armada and love it, so nothing against Nissan, but if you get everything on your weight list...you will be looking at another new tow vehicle. How about a trailer with tent ends? Seriously, you will be pushing the capabilities of your tow vehicle unless you take a step back and figure out what you can really tow with your tow vehicle for weight and look ONLY at those models that fit within those specifications. You have choices, but IMO will need to revealuate your expectations.

RE: It's the wannabe RV'er here again...

Komfort has a new Komfort-lite out this year (not the Ridgecrest). Their short unit (the 212T) in Komfort could work.

Oliver in Seattle

The Oliver TT is supposed to be at the Seattle RV Show & Bumbershoot for anyone wanting to see one "up close." It would be nice if they would make a plan that is just a big larger with a Q walk-around bed and another 2" of height.
